When you ask kids what they want to be when they grow up, few will say, “I want to work in insurance.” And even as they get older, and start to explore career opportunities, working for an insurance company is not often at the top of the list.
But, at the same time, insurance companies are some of the biggest employers in our community. And, right now, the industry is going through significant change – mostly driven by rapid advances in technology. That means that the jobs and career opportunities in insurance are also rapidly changing.
But, what is day-to-day work actually like at our local insurance companies? We decided to find out by talking with some of Hartford’s young professionals who work at The Hartford, and Nassau Financial.
They shared a little bit about what they do, and how it differs from their initial perceptions. They also offered some thoughts about why emerging talent might benefit from giving a career in insurance a second look.
